CANOC SPORTS GLITZY WEEK AHEAD IN PORT OF SPAIN

The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) is the host of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) annual Workshop and General Assembly on 4 and 5 November, respectively.

Following the successful hosting of the Inaugural Caribbean Games in Guadeloupe earlier this year a cause for celebration itself, CANOC is meeting with an enhanced regional and international standing, that signals the coming of age of the organization.

The meetings constitute a celebration of how much sport can facilitate regional integration and the development of our people.

With all 30 members of the CANOC Family in Port of Spain, CANOC has brought together in the Workshop, several international sports federations, anxious to showcase their sports and make the case for inclusion in the Caribbean Games sports program, going forward.

The two-day assembly will feature messages by IOC President Thomas Bach, and President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Dame Louise Martin. The Workshop will feature several international sports anxious to get into the Caribbean and ultimately, onto the program of the Caribbean Games. There will also be presentations by the Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) and the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Youth Games being held in Trinidad and Tobago, 4 – 11 August 2023.

The XX General Assembly features the Executive report on its stewardship of the past four years. CANOC Sports will provide a summary of the transformation made by the organization over the course of the quadrennial that has fundamentally altered the course of sports development throughout the Caribbean.
