School athletics tournament

The National Sport Institute (NSI) held the annual school sport tournaments for the 2022-2023 school year. The first tournament was held in the athletics sport from December 5^th to 7^th, in which 7 primary schools
took part.

The following primary schools participated:

1. Oranje School,
2. BrowlerM Maillard school,
3. M. Genevieve de Wever school,
   
4. Leonard Conner school,
5. Hillside Christian school,
6. Martin Luther King Jr School
7. Ruby Labega school.

To our delight, all schools participated in the
planned activities. These were:

1. Long Jump,
2. Hurdles,
3. the 50 and 100-meter run,
4. 50 and 100-meter relay.

In the three-day event, a total of 120 medals were achieved among the schools. On the first day of activities, Hillside won 17 of the 60 medals, on the second day Ruby Labega won 12 of the 30 medals, and on the third and last day Hillside won 11 of the 30 medals. The students were grouped by age, which are U7, U9, U11
& U13.

NSI wishes to congratulate all students who participated and especially the winners & their schools. The next athletics school tournament will be held in the 2023-2024 school year in the month of December 2023.

On to the next tournaments, which will be from March 6th to 8^th, 2023 in the Netball & Football sport.

The NSI would like to send our heartfelt thank you to the Cape students of the St. Maarten Academy, who assisted as volunteers which made the 3-day tournament a success. We also wish to extend a thank you to the Red Cross St. Maarten.
