CANOC Strengthens Commitment to Human Rights in Sports: Signs Engagement Letter with Centre for Sport and Human Rights
The Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) affirms its dedication to promoting human rights and ethical standards within the realm of sports through a landmark partnership with the Centre for Sport and Human Rights (CSHR), represented by Mr. David Grevemberg CBE.
In a significant step towards advancing the principles of equality, inclusivity, and respect in the world of sports, CANOC signed an Engagement Letter with the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, symbolizing its commitment to a brighter future for Caribbean athletes and sports enthusiasts.
CANOC, has been at the forefront of Caribbean sports for two decades and recognizes the pivotal role of human rights and ethical conduct in fostering an environment where athletes can thrive irrespective of their backgrounds or identities.
Mr. David Grevemberg CBE, Centre for Sport and Human Rights, Chief Innovation and Partnership Officer, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to partner with CANOC, a prominent organization committed to the values of unity and excellence. This partnership reinforces our shared belief that sports should be a force for good, promoting respect, dignity, and inclusivity.”
The engagement between CANOC and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights encompasses various areas of cooperation, including education, awareness programs, policy development, capacity building, advocacy efforts, and monitoring and reporting mechanisms.

The signing ceremony took place during the 10th Annual CANOC Workshop in Bridgetown, Barbados, attended by member representatives from both CANOC and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, and was a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of a promising partnership that seeks to champion human rights in sports.
